About POCSO Committee

The POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Committee of Delhi Public International School, Majra Sheoraj, has been constituted in accordance with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and CBSE guidelines to ensure a safe, secure and supportive environment for all students.

The Committee works proactively to prevent any form of sexual abuse, harassment or exploitation, to create awareness among students, staff and parents, and to ensure that all reported concerns are addressed promptly, fairly and with strict confidentiality.

Objectives

Objectives of the Committee

  • To ensure strict compliance with the POCSO Act, 2012 and CBSE directions on child safety in school.
  • To provide a safe, secure and child‑friendly environment within the school premises.
  • To create awareness among students, teachers, non‑teaching staff and parents about child rights and personal safety.
  • To establish a clear, accessible mechanism for students to report any inappropriate behaviour or abuse.
  • To respond to all complaints with sensitivity, confidentiality and without any victimization of the child.
  • To coordinate with parents, local authorities and child protection agencies whenever required.
Composition

Composition of POCSO Committee

The Committee is constituted as per CBSE guidelines and includes representatives from the school management, teaching and non‑teaching staff, parents and a counsellor/doctor wherever possible.

Duties

Roles and Responsibilities

A. Prevention & Awareness
  • Conduct age‑appropriate orientation programmes on “Good Touch–Bad Touch” and personal safety rules.
  • Organize workshops and counselling sessions for teachers, staff and parents on POCSO provisions and mandatory reporting.
  • Display child safety guidelines, helpline numbers and POCSO Committee details at prominent places in the school.
  • Ensure that all staff submit self‑declaration regarding their conduct with children and adherence to child protection norms.
B. Complaint & Reporting Mechanism
  • Receive and register any complaint related to sexual misconduct, harassment, or inappropriate behaviour involving a child.
  • Provide safe and confidential channels to report concerns (class teacher, counsellor, complaint box, email, etc.).
  • Ensure that no child is intimidated, threatened or victimized for reporting a concern.
  • Immediately inform the Principal/Chairperson and follow mandatory reporting procedures as per the POCSO Act, 2012.
C. Response & Follow‑up
  • Provide emotional support and counselling to the affected child and family.
  • Coordinate with parents/guardians, police, Child Welfare Committee and other authorities wherever required.
  • Maintain proper records of complaints, actions taken and outcomes with strict confidentiality.
  • Review the effectiveness of safety measures and suggest improvements to the School Managing Committee.

How Students and Parents Can Report

  • Report directly to any trusted teacher, class teacher, counsellor or the Principal.
  • Submit a written complaint (by student/parent/guardian) to the POCSO Committee Chairperson.
  • Drop a note in the Child Safety / POCSO Complaint Box placed at a visible and accessible point in school.
  • Send an email to: dpisrewari@gmail.com with the subject “POCSO Complaint – Confidential”.
  • In emergencies, contact the school office at 01274‑297736 or national child helpline number 1098.

All complaints will be handled with utmost sensitivity, respect and confidentiality, and appropriate action will be taken as per law and CBSE guidelines.
